When people discuss the creativity and resourcefulness of Indigenous communities, they often focus on talented artists, athletes, and respected Elders. However, there is a growing recognition of Indigenous business leaders who are making significant contributions to various sectors.

Clean tech companies are at the forefront of Europe's mission to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. A Dutch firm, supported by European Union funding, has created an innovative green energy solution aimed at helping reach this goal.

Canada is now part of the expanding group of non-EU countries associated with Horizon Europe, the EU's research and innovation programme. This collaboration will enable joint efforts on large-scale projects addressing major global challenges.

Today, Iliana Ivanova, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education, and Youth, and François-Philippe Champagne, Canadian Minister of Innovation, Science, and Industry, are signing the agreement that allows Canadian researchers and organizations to participate in the programme on equal footing with their EU counterparts.

Over 150 organizations, including industry leaders, start-ups, and research institutes, gathered at the EU Fusion Business Forum in Berlin. The event, organized by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy, brought together Fusion for Energy (F4E) and the ITER Organization to explore the potential of fusion energy and discuss the latest market opportunities from projects like ITER.
